The Ultimate Guide to Mastering Comprehension is written with a systematic and progressive approach to specially guide pupils to master the necessary skills for excelling in comprehension tests.

This book explores important comprehension skills in the first five sections – Referencing, Information-seeking, Inferring, Thinking Skills and Analysing Visual Texts. The section on Referencing aims to provide pupils with the skills to extract relevant parts of the text to answer questions. The section on Information-seeking will teach pupils to identify important factual information, while the section on Inferring will teach pupils the skills to intelligently guess the meanings of words, phrases and sentences based on the clues provided. The section on Thinking Skills aims to encourage pupils to think out of the box, while the section on Analysing Visual Texts aims to help pupils analyse graphic stimulus questions. A sixth section, Combined Skills, helps pupils to recall all the skills taught and prepare them for tests and examinations. The latter three sections incorporate more questions based on the new syllabus.

Each comprehension component is taught in three levels of difficulty from Levels 1 to 3. The texts and passages have been specially arranged in increasing levels of difficulty and text length. This will help pupils experience and master the basic levels of comprehension before they progress to the next difficulty level, which will in turn build up their confidence in dealing with challenging comprehension questions.
